Component Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Component Engineer to join Ceragon. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability of high-quality electronic components for use in our telecommunications equipment. They will work closely with our engineering, supply chain, and quality assurance teams to ensure that components meet our strict standards for performance, reliability, and cost. The Component Engineer will also play a key role in developing and implementing component obsolescence management strategies to ensure the continued availability of key components for our products.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with R&D teams to evaluate new technologies and components and provide technical guidance on their integration into product designs.
  • Conduct research and analysis of electronic components, including identifying potential suppliers, evaluating their capabilities, and conducting technical and commercial assessments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and supply chain teams to develop component specifications that meet product requirements and optimize cost.
  • Work with suppliers to establish component pricing, lead times, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor component quality and performance, including conducting periodic audits of suppliers and conducting failure analysis on components.
  • Develop and implement component obsolescence management strategies, including identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation plans.
  • Manage component qualification activities, including reviewing supplier test plans, participating in component testing, and approving component qualifications.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and field teams on component-related issues.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Component Engineer in the telecom industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic component technologies, including passive and active components, power electronics, and RF components.
  • Experience in supplier management, including negotiating pricing and lead times, managing quality issues, and conducting supplier audits.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to electronic components.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and address technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Familiarity with component obsolescence management strategies and tools.
